The Prieto's new groove

Oh, blessed sale! In Chapel Hill, A Southern Season (an exquisite store that sells everything kitchen, including essential imported cheeses and chocolates) is having their yearly sale, and everything in the store is marked down this week. For the amount of time I stayed in there wandering around googly-eyed, bumping into other browsers, I didn't buy very much, but this was my favorite purchase.

We already have two Putumayo CDs which we love (their Brazilian Lounge mix is incredible), but I had heard that this one was also a winner, so I took the plunge. I'm listening to it now, and I think I could grow to love it. The mix starts with a very cool, very enamorable French ditty, and then winds its way through women around the world. Some songs are immediate loves, like the Greek one that reminds me of my candle-lit nights making music up on Mt. Olympus, and then there are a few songs that my ears are still flirting with, like the one in Croatian, which feels really foreign to me.

I wonder what types of cooking will be inspired by our new groove!
