Music to keep us movin'

"When carefully selected according to scientific principles, music can enhance endurance by 15% and improve the ‘feeling states’ of exercisers, helping them to derive much greater pleasure from the task..." -Science Daily, October 2, 2008

My friend Aline and I have decided to train for a 5K, and we could use a little help! We're putting together a collection of music-to-move-to for our jogging sessions, and we're wondering what YOUR favorites are? If you run, exercise, or even hold solo dance parties in the privacy of your living room, would you mind sharing some of the songs that really get you grooving? We will be strategically organizing your ideas into sections for warm-up, crazy running, and warm down, so songs of varying tempos are appreciated! Thank you, thank you, thank you!

haha! It was so fun taking those pictures... did you see the bird diving into the water behind you?? Joshua saw my pic and asked "why is your hair going the wrong way??" I told him it was a VERY windy day :)
BTW... We gotta have some Brasilian tunes in there somewhere!

so, some songs you really like, but they are AWFUL to run to. My favs are
"Going the distance" by cake
"here we go again" by ok go
"I'm so excited" Pointer sisters
"time after time" The pop version
"Swing, Swing" All american rejects
"Move along" All American rejects
Let it rock
Hot and cold
Good luck! Let me know how it goes!

hahahaha...you'll laugh but I love exercising to 80's music. Phil Collins Easy Lover is great - though the lyrics interesting! he he. I think I have a remix version. Oh dear.

"Walking on Broken Glass" by Cindy Loper (I have no idea how to spell her name) is one of my favorites. I also like that Santana song that is always on the radio. I'm sorry I can't remember the name! Speaking of latin beats, though, Shakira probably has some good exercise music on her albums. I wish you luck!
