My feeling of the day is that all women should have a solid girl power item in their house, to strengthen them in times of trouble or challenge. Like, for example, when they are hating unemployment and tie themselves to a chair in front of the computer to give another courageous shot at job hunting...
Meet my Linda Feels Loving mirror. Back in the day when Marcos was out of town for a few weeks in Canada I skipped over to a girlfriend's house, and she introduced me to the art of collage (From the French: coller, to glue). It was actually kind of tricky at first to figure out how to arrange and lay the overly sticky, thin scraps of magazine down onto the edge of the mirror, but watching my two dollar find from the thrift store metamorphose in front of my very eyes was satisfying, to say the least.
The Linda Feels Loving mirror has a lot of me involved in it. The first image that sang to me was the tall Wonderwoman on the left, who completely deserved to have a card from a kid's game blast her off. And then came little girl Linda from a vintage child's book to balance out Wonderwoman's kick-trash presence. The Zorro-like picture on the bottom had to be included because I am currently quite smitten with Zorro and want to name my first born son (or daugher, let's be frank) "Zorro". Then other things like "Hello my name is Independence" and the B&W New York City skyline just really topped it off, along with an old European stamp and some satisfying textures. This was the first of many creative projects that will come out of this summer. I'll keep you posted!
What do you have in your home that inspires you?
